Laser marking involves permanently marking a wide variety of materials and surfaces using an Nd:YAG laser. The geometry of the components is largely irrelevant.
This process is particularly suitable for the permanent and tamper-proof marking of labels, components and serial numbers. Even with the smallest batch sizes and short delivery times, maximum precision and flexibility make laser marking an extremely attractive solution.
Technology
Its amplifying medium consists of a crystalline or glass-like solid, and the wavelength is 1064 nm.
Marking is contactless and gentle on materials, without the use of additional substances. A computer-controlled optical system directs the focused laser beam precisely onto the workpiece surface. Depending on the material and the laser parameters, the following results are achieved
- Temper colours
- Colour changes
- Engravings
- Removal (evaporation) of the surface
Thanks to direct processing without pre- or post-treatment, this process is particularly efficient and environmentally friendly.
Areas of application
- Optical industry
- Precision engineering
- Medical technology
- Tool, automotive and electrical industries
Examples
Optical components, tools and scales, stainless steel front panels, laser foil labels, watch backs, implants, components made of plastic, steel, anodised aluminium, painted metals or acrylic foils.
